Do you ever picture yourself sitting around in your pajamas with a laptop and a cup of coffee, on a Monday morning, while everyone else is fighting traffic on the way to another week at their boring job? Do you imagine yourself working out by the pool, on that nice patio furniture in the lanai, while the kids swim? Sure you do. That’s why you’re here. That’s why I’m here. We want to live that life, and we can – with a little effort, and an amazing thing known as the Internet.
I am talking about Internet Marketing. It is also called Relationship Marketing, and that might be a better name for it.
Never before has it been so easy to reach so many people, with so little effort. Sure, there’s email. But there are also new social Internet sites, or Web 2.0 sites as they are sometimes called. YouTube, MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, the list goes on. There are RSS Feeds and blogs too. The possibilities are endless. We literally have millions of customers at our door. All we need to do is give them what they want.
This blog is about making money online, through Internet Marketing of all types. Websites, affiliate marketing, email lists, referral programs, pay per click, etc.
About me:
I have been working at making money using the Internet since the mid 1990’s. There was no such thing as eBay, PayPal, or anything faster than a 56k dial-up connection. The first sale that I ever had online involved a Yahoo Classified Ad, a P.O. Box, a money order for $5.00, and a CD with an HTML page full of links on it, sent by US Mail.
Maybe it’s a result of how much effort it took to simply make a transaction back then, but today there is no better rush than to put together a few web pages, send an email to my list, and watch those first payments hit my inbox minutes later. Cha-ching! I’m making money out of thin air!
The first digital, or downloadable product I sold was in 2002 on eBay. It was a PDF that I created which explained how to get free shipping boxes to use for eBay merchandise. I sold it for $2.99. At that time, eBay did not have a digital delivery system. At first, I sent the PDF to the buyers by email whenever I could get to my computer. That wasn’t so good, people got very impatient. So, I created my own instant delivery system using Outlook, and some rules, and email templates. Basically, Outlook would look for the name of the product in the subject of the PayPal payment notification, and reply with a pre-made email with the PDF attached. It was nice, if I do say so myself! I even set the cha-ching noise to play whenever a payment email came in.
Later I sold ”Build Your Own Lightsaber” guides, Texas Hold’em guides, Cheat Code Lists, Recipes,… all kinds of stuff, all on eBay. Eventually eBay created their own instant delivery system, so to the delight of my wife, I put that old computer with the cha-ching out in the garage!
My biggest success has been a “How to Sell on eBay” guide. I was simply reselling a digital one for awhile, and then eBay suddenly decided that they did not allow digital products delivered by email or download anymore! I wound up creating a new product. An interactive CD called the Paradise Success Kit for eBay. Ebay allows digital items on CD to be mailed to buyers. It has been the best selling item that I have ever sold, by leaps and bounds! My goal is to diversify and do more business off of ebay. I have made some good money from selling Clickbank products to my email lists, and will be exploring many different avenues to make more money online. Hope you come along for the ride!
